A big first, a new YouTube drop and a messy attic

One live event, two big questions and a lesson I learned in Belgium.

Here’s a quick update from me this week.

On Monday, we had the very first live session of the Monthly Support Group. A quiet little milestone I’m honestly proud of.

I answered real questions from inside the community:

Guillaume asked how to transition from 15+ years of project-based software dev to a monthly subscription model.

Jafaar wondered if his shift into design mentorship and creating resources is the right path, or just a time-sucking detour.

I gave them both the straightest, most practical answers I could.
Just what I’ve seen work.

📺 The full recording is already in the community and if you’ve got a question of your own? You can drop it in the “Ask a Question” space for the next live session: Thursday, Sept 4.

New video: Why I stopped fighting for UX

Also this week, I published a new video on YouTube. This one’s for anyone who’s ever been told “there’s no time for proper UX.”

It’s part story, part strategy. And part confession.

I share:

  • Why I stopped preaching UX to teams who never asked for it

  • When to push for research and when to just get things shipped

  • How I redesigned 50+ screens in 2 months (with no post-its or workshops)

Caught up with an old friend and ex-colleague Dolph over coffee.

Other little highlights from my week

  • Caught up with an old friend and ex-colleague Dolph over coffee. Will share a photo in the email — it’s always good to see where people landed.

  • I had a mentorship call with Laura, helping her productize her new UX Audit offer. She’s onto something solid.

  • Wrapped up a big redesign project for a meeting location platform. +50 screens delivered in two months.

  • And on the home front? The attic is finally being turned into a proper office. A contractor came by to quote the drywall. Fingers crossed I’ll be recording videos up there by the end of the month.

Your turn

What was your biggest win this week?

I ask because we often forget to look back and recognize what actually went well.

Even if it was small — send it my way, or share it in the community. I’d love to hear it.

Until next time!

With kind regards / 🇳🇱 Met vriendelijke groet,
